The plant is equipped with press, body, painting, assembly, and engine factories on a site of approximately 2.16 million square meters. The maximum annual production capacity is 350,000 units. After signing an investment agreement with the Andhra Pradesh state government in April 2017 for the establishment of the plant, construction began in October of the same year, and production started in July 2019. The plant incorporates technologies such as a 100% water recycling system and robotic automation facilities.
Meanwhile, a vision declaration ceremony for Kia India Corporation was also held that day. Kia announced its goal to increase its market share in India to 10%. The market share in the first half of this year was 6.7%. To achieve this, Kia plans to expand the range of models produced and more than double the approximately 300 dealerships located in 215 cities.
