Hyundai Transys Wins Red Dot Design Award Main Prize for 'Future Mobility Seat'
Hyundai Transys announced on the 10th that it won the main prize at the 2023 Red Dot Design Award.
The Red Dot Design Award, hosted by the Design Center of North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany, is considered one of the world's top three design competitions alongside the German iF Design Award and the American IDEA Design Award. Each year, award-winning works are selected in various fields based on key evaluation criteria such as design innovation and functionality.
Hyundai Transys' future mobility concept seat, which won the main prize in the Mobility & Transportation category of the Red Dot Design Award's Design Concept division, embodies the theme of 'Transition to Regenerative Mobility.'
The fabric used in the main part of the seat combines yarn made from discarded leather with recycled PET yarn. A weaving technique using leftover leather scraps, which were previously discarded, is applied to the bolster area to minimize leather waste generation. This presents a sustainable direction for future mobility seats focused on eco-friendliness.
