Fortunately, due to the early morning timing, there were no casualties caused by the explosives or Molotov cocktails.
The police believe that the three explosions and Molotov cocktail attacks targeted commercial facilities and did not aim at the general public. The stores in the area where the incidents occurred were closed at that early hour, so fortunately, no casualties occurred.
The first explosion took place in front of the Truist Bank ATM in northeast Washington DC. The suspect then drove to a nearby Nike store and committed the same act. Afterwards, the suspect threw a Molotov cocktail at a nearby Safeway store.
CCTV footage released by the police clearly shows a person wearing a white hoodie and the license plate of the vehicle used by the suspect. The police are collecting information, including photos and videos, related to this incident and have offered a $20,000 (approximately 26 million KRW) reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
Meanwhile, the day before, a mass shooting occurred in Baltimore, Maryland, on the U.S. East Coast, resulting in dozens of casualties. With various events scheduled across the country for the U.S. Independence Day on the 4th, concerns about gun violence are rising.
