Busan City Completes 'Public Institution Efficiency Plan'... Subsidiary Public Institutions Reduced from 25 to 21
7 Public Institution Efficiency Measures Initiated Since August Last Year Completed as of the 3rd
Mayor Park Hyung-jun: "We Will Continuously Promote Public Institution Innovation, Not Just One-Time Efforts"
On the 3rd, Busan City announced that its affiliated public institutions ▲Busan Urban Corporation ▲Busan Women and Family and Lifelong Education Promotion Institute ▲Busan Global City Foundation ▲Busan Technopark have newly started under the 'Public Institution Efficiency Plan,' thereby completing all seven cases of the 'Public Institution Efficiency Plan' initiated since August last year.
Since the announcement of the 'Innovation Direction for Public Institutions in the 8th Elected Term' by the 8th Elected Term Public Pledge Promotion Planning Group on August 1st last year, the city has been promoting the public institution efficiency plan to resolve inefficiencies caused by similar and overlapping functions among public institutions. The recent integration, including Busan Urban Corporation, was carried out as part of this effort.
First, to unify the 'urban regeneration function,' the urban regeneration support projects and personnel of the 'Busan Urban Regeneration Support Center' were transferred to the 'Busan Urban Corporation.' Through this, it is expected that comprehensive and systematic urban regeneration support will be provided by integrating the function of stabilizing citizens' residential life through urban development projects of the 'Busan Urban Corporation' and the urban regeneration projects of the 'Busan Urban Regeneration Center.'
The 'Busan Women and Family and Lifelong Education Promotion Institute' is an institution formed by integrating the 'Busan Women and Family Development Institute' and the 'Busan Talent Lifelong Education Promotion Institute.' By combining the research and policy development expertise in the fields of women, family, children, and youth from the 'Busan Women and Family Development Institute' with the lifelong education policy management functions of the 'Busan Talent Lifelong Education Promotion Institute,' it aims to provide high-quality citizen services based on synergistic effects.
The 'Busan Global City Foundation' is an integrated institution of the 'Busan International Exchange Foundation' and the 'Busan English Broadcasting Foundation.' It integrates the diverse private international exchange activities and global citizen network assets of the 'Busan International Exchange Foundation' with the ability to produce lifestyle information and cultural content through multilingual broadcasting, including English, from the 'Busan English Broadcasting Foundation,' to provide a higher level of service to foreigners visiting or residing in Busan and its citizens.
Through this public institution efficiency plan, 'Busan Technopark' will establish a demand-oriented corporate support system to promote local industries.
The shoe industry promotion center of the 'Busan Economic Promotion Agency' and the textile and fashion support functions of the 'Busan Design Promotion Agency' have been transferred to Busan Technopark to promote convergence and mutual growth between the shoe industry and the textile and fashion industry.
Additionally, the talent development and industry-academia cooperation functions of the 'Busan Talent Lifelong Education Promotion Institute' and the 'Busan Industry Science Innovation Institute' have been integrated into the Busan Technopark Industry-Academia Cooperation Center to pursue mutual growth between industry, academia, and research.
By completing these four integration plans, the city has fulfilled all seven initially planned public institution efficiency measures.
As a result, the number of public institutions under the city has been reduced from 25 to 21, and the city expects to eliminate inefficiencies by adjusting similar and overlapping functions simultaneously.
