SK Illekringkeu Opens Ultra-Fast Electric Vehicle Charging Stations at Highway Rest Areas
SK Eliclink announced on the 2nd that it held an opening ceremony for its ultra-fast electric vehicle charging station at Cheongju Rest Area on the 30th of last month.
The opening ceremony was attended by Cho Hyung-gi, CEO of SK Eliclink, Lee Ho-jung, CEO of SK Networks, Shin Jeong-ho, CEO of SK Signet, as well as officials from related organizations such as Korea Expressway Corporation, Ministry of Environment, Korea Environment Corporation, and Korea Electric Vehicle Users Association, adding prestige to the event.
SK Eliclink was selected as the operator last October in a private competition conducted by Korea Expressway Corporation for the ‘Electric Vehicle Charger Installation at Highway Rest Areas’ project, surpassing numerous competitors. Through this, a total of 200 ultra-fast chargers will be installed at 62 highway rest areas, and electric vehicle charging services will be provided for the next 10 years. By early July, 42 charging stations will be completed and available for service, while the remaining 20 stations are scheduled to open sequentially by August in coordination with the final construction schedule of Korea Electric Power Corporation. Once completed, the number of fast chargers operated by SK Eliclink will increase to approximately 2,700 units.
The chargers installed at SK Eliclink’s ultra-fast charging stations are dispenser-type fast chargers showcased at ‘EV Trend Korea 2023’ last March, consisting of 53 units of 350kW chargers and 147 units of 200kW chargers. The 350kW ultra-fast chargers can charge an Ioniq 6 from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes.
