Kim Ki-hyun on the Largest Ever Saudi Construction Contract: "Yoon-Bin Salman Friendship Also Influential"
"Economic Diplomacy-Focused Administration Brings Economic Change"
Kim Ki-hyun, leader of the People Power Party, said on the 25th that Hyundai Engineering & Construction's securing of the largest-ever project in Saudi Arabia was likely influenced by President Yoon Suk-yeol personally taking on the role of South Korea's first sales representative and building a close friendship with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia.
On the afternoon of the same day, Kim posted on Facebook under the title "After all, it's the economy" and wrote as follows.
He said, "A country's leader should not waste time spreading baseless rumors that belong in a museum as relics of the Paleolithic era, causing wrinkles in the people's livelihood economy, but rather work harder to fill the pockets of the citizens. Shouldn't the ruling and opposition parties compete over who can better revive the people's livelihood? That would be normal, wouldn't it?"
He continued, "Since the Yoon Suk-yeol administration took office, Saudi Arabia promised investments worth 40 trillion won last November, followed by a large-scale 9 trillion won investment in the Ulsan petrochemical complex in March, and today, it is said that a petrochemical plant construction project in Saudi Arabia was ordered to our companies," adding, "The project is worth a whopping 5 billion dollars (6.4 trillion won), making it the largest-scale project our companies have ever secured in Saudi Arabia."
Kim emphasized that while this was the fruit of hard work by Korean companies, it was also a result of President Yoon's sales diplomacy.
Regarding the Democratic Party, he said, "The regime that was obsessed with ideology, only focused on purging deep-rooted evils and digging up the past, and recklessly wasted diplomacy for domestic political purposes has stepped down, and a regime based on pragmatism, concentrating on economic diplomacy with a vision for the future, has been established, which is why the economy is changing like this."
He stated, "On this day marking 73 years since the communist invasion, my party, the People Power Party, and I reaffirm our determination to normalize the abnormal through 'decisive change' and to move beyond outdated ideologies to focus more on reviving the livelihood economy, so that the dedication and sacrifice of our predecessors who built today's brilliant Republic of Korea on the ruins can shine even brighter."

He added, "The reason why our country, which fell to the world's poorest nation after the Korean War 73 years ago, has now risen to the ranks of the world's G8 countries is because of the patriotic veterans who defended the nation and the industrial workforce who shed blood, sweat, and tears in the industrial field. I wholeheartedly support all Korean salesmen who are still working hard for the hopeful tomorrow of the Republic of Korea."
