The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 19th that they are recruiting participating companies for the ‘Smart MICE Activation Project’ to strengthen the digital capabilities of the tourism and MICE industries.

This project is a program that connects specialized companies to help tourism and MICE companies registered in international conference planning and international conference services easily adopt and utilize the digital technologies they need.

It supports costs required for matching with ICT (Information and Communication Technology) specialized companies in fields such as artificial intelligence (AI) and big data, as well as for the introduction of technologies and services. An education and consulting program is also operated to enhance companies’ understanding and utilization skills of digital technologies so that they can optimally adopt and use digital technologies.

Selected companies can introduce customized technologies and services necessary for building digital work environments and ICT infrastructure such as big data, expanding online sales channels like smart stores and live commerce, and advancing mobile services through digital technology and service providers discovered by the organization.

Supported MICE companies will be selected through evaluation into three stages according to their digital transformation progress: ‘Initial,’ ‘Advanced,’ and ‘Global,’ with about 30 companies chosen. The support budget is provided in voucher form: 30 million KRW for the initial stage, 50 million KRW for the advanced stage, and 70 million KRW for the global stage.

The application period is until the 21st of this month for beneficiary companies (MICE companies) and until the 28th for provider companies (ICT companies). Applications can be submitted through the Korea Tourism Industry Portal ‘Touraz’ (touraz).
