Silla University Department of Dental Hygiene Selected as an Organization for Oral Health Service Excellence
The Department of Dental Hygiene at Silla University was selected as an Outstanding Organization for Oral Health at the '78th Oral Health Day Commemoration Ceremony' and received a commendation.
The Oral Health Day Commemoration Ceremony was held on the 9th at the first-floor auditorium of Busan City Hall.
The department was recognized for its consistent interest in improving citizens' oral health and active participation in oral health education activities and volunteer work, and was selected as an 'Outstanding Organization for Oral Health,' receiving a commendation.
The commemorative event was held simultaneously across the country under the slogan "Healthy Smiles Returned, Oral Care Together," aiming to raise awareness of the importance of oral health prevention and management and to provide an opportunity to practice healthy lifestyle habits.
'Oral Health Day' quantifies the number 6, representing the age when the first permanent molars emerge, and the character 'gu' (臼齒), meaning molar. It was first designated on June 9, 1946, and has been commemorated ever since. In 2015, it was established as a legal holiday under the Oral Health Act.
