Gyeonggi-do to Conduct Hygiene Inspections at 1,833 Elderly Welfare Facilities by the 19th
Gyeonggi Province will conduct a joint hygiene inspection with city and county authorities on 1,833 social welfare facilities and postpartum care center meal service facilities until the 19th.
On the 11th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will carry out hygiene inspections on social welfare facilities and postpartum care facilities in the province, including 1,518 elderly welfare facilities, 143 facilities for the disabled, 25 child welfare facilities, and 147 postpartum care centers.
The main inspection items include ▲ use and storage of products past the expiration date (or shelf life) ▲ unhygienic food handling ▲ spoiled or deteriorated food, use of unlabeled ingredients ▲ hygiene of meal service facilities such as equipment washing and disinfection management ▲ storage of preserved food ▲ personal hygiene such as wearing hygiene caps.
Gyeonggi Province plans to collect and send food suspected of causing food poisoning during the inspection to the Gyeonggi Provincial Institute of Health and Environment for testing.

Jung Yeon-pyo, head of the Food Poisoning Prevention Team in Gyeonggi Province, urged, "Summer is a season with a high risk of food poisoning, so please thoroughly manage hygiene and cleanliness in kitchens to ensure that residents using welfare facilities can safely use meal services."
