First Lady Kim Geon-hee, wife of President Yoon Seok-yeol, met with representatives of national merit recipients on the 1st and delivered donation funds. She promised to warmly care for the surviving family members.
On the same day, Kim attended the 'Donation Ceremony for Supporting National Merit Recipients' held at the Community Chest of Korea building in the afternoon. This ceremony was organized to commemorate the patriotic spirit of national merit recipients in honor of the June Month of Patriots and Veterans, and to encourage the spread of a culture of donation.
Earlier, Kim was appointed honorary chairperson of the Community Chest of Korea in April. Since then, she has continued her activities to promote a culture of sharing and volunteerism in our society, including donating funds for the recovery from the wildfires in Gangwon Province.
Twelve representatives of national merit recipients attended the donation ceremony. Kim expressed her gratitude to the national merit recipients and their families by delivering the donation funds, saying, "I will remember the sacrifice and dedication of the heroes in uniform and warmly care for the surviving family members."
