On the 31st, the Jangseong Police Station in Jeonnam announced that they have opened an investigation without detention into Mr. A on charges of causing the death of a colleague by operating factory equipment that was stopped without prior notice (professional negligence resulting in death).
Mr. A is suspected of operating equipment at an electronic component manufacturing factory in Jangseong-gun around 6 a.m. on the 27th without warning nearby workers, resulting in the death of cleaner Mr. B.
The police are investigating whether safety regulations were followed, including stopping the equipment before cleaning or maintenance work and installing locks or warning signs on the control panel.
The factory where the accident occurred is subject to the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.
