Suwon City Inspects 195 Filial Piety Businesses
The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province will monitor 195 "Hyo-do Eopso" (Senior Discount Businesses) that offer discounted rates for senior citizens until the 30th of next month.
Senior Discount Businesses are establishments that autonomously set discount age limits, discount rates, and discount items to provide benefits to elderly customers.
Suwon city officials, food hygiene inspectors, and honorary public hygiene inspectors will visit these businesses to check for any changes in discount details and the actual frequency of senior customers' visits, as well as survey preferred incentives and operational satisfaction of the businesses.
Businesses registered as general restaurants, bathhouses, beauty salons, and optical shops located in Suwon can apply to become Senior Discount Businesses. Currently, 195 businesses have been designated, including 126 beauty salons and 28 restaurants.
Suwon city attaches certification plaques to designated Senior Discount Businesses and provides customized supplies according to the type of business.
Additionally, promotional materials containing information about the Senior Discount Businesses are produced and distributed to senior welfare centers frequented by elderly citizens. Every quarter, 10 outstanding businesses are selected and awarded certificates of commendation.
Applications can be submitted through the Suwon city website.
