Kim Jae-won Refutes Ahn's Criticism by Mentioning Lee Jin-bok and Lee Jun-seok
Kim Jae-won, a Supreme Council member of the People Power Party who received a severe disciplinary action of a one-year suspension of party membership rights due to folklore related to the May 18 incident, rebutted Ahn Cheol-soo, a member of the People Power Party, who criticized that "Supreme Council member Kim's public activities are not beneficial to either the party or himself," by saying it is "illogical."
On the 25th, Supreme Council member Kim stated through his social media (SNS), "I think it is illogical for Representative Ahn to criticize me for explaining my personal stance in a media interview after having refrained from any rebuttal as a form of self-restraint," and said this.
He said, "The content of the suspended party membership rights includes restrictions on the right to vote and be elected as a party member, inability to participate in the party's decision-making or organizational activities, and ineligibility to be recommended as a public office candidate. Other personal political expressions or political activities are not particularly restricted," adding, "Therefore, there are cases of individuals who continue active political activities despite having already received party membership suspension."
The phrase "individuals who continue active political activities despite having already received party membership suspension" appears to refer to former People Power Party leader Lee Jun-seok. After receiving a disciplinary action of 6 months plus 1 year suspension of party membership rights from the Ethics Committee last year, Lee has been actively engaged in lectures, writing, and appearances on current affairs programs.

Meanwhile, Supreme Council member Kim also quoted a remark made by Lee Jin-bok, former Senior Secretary for Political Affairs at the Presidential Office, directed at Representative Ahn, saying, "Does it just mean 'If you say nothing, nothing will happen'?" Lee made this comment in February before the party convention, criticizing Ahn, who was then a candidate, for using expressions such as 'Yoon-Ahn (Yoon Seok-yeol - Ahn Cheol-soo) alliance' and 'Yoon core group (Yoon Seok-yeol core associates).'
