MFDS Holds 'Regulatory Innovation 2.0 National Public Forum'...Gathering Opinions from Industry and Others
On the 24th, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced that it held the 'Regulatory Innovation 2.0 National Debate' together with companies, associations, academia, and consumer groups in the food and drug sectors.
During the debate, in the food sector, discussions were held on ▲purchasing and selling small quantities of block cheese at department stores and cheese shops ▲installing automatic meat vending machines at outdoor locations such as campsites ▲expanding the forms of health functional foods.
In the pharmaceutical sector, topics included ▲research on sensory inspection of herbal medicine (raw herbs) using artificial intelligence ▲expansion of digital health management and wellness products ▲expansion of the provision of the latest information on rare medicines.
Consumer groups and industry agreed on the need for regulatory reform that prioritizes public safety above all.
Academia suggested that the goal of regulatory reform should not be deregulation or reinforcement, but rather establishing optimized regulations that satisfy both consumers and industry.
