Gwangju Nam-gu Hosts Craft Street Festival in Yangnim-dong
Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, will hold the final stage of the Craft Street Festival in the Penguin Village area of Yangnim-dong on the 27th and 28th of this month.
Nam-gu announced on the 24th that the Penguin Village Craft Street Festival will be held a total of four times on weekends until the end of this month.
The festival is one of the programs held during the 2023 Craft Week, involving residents of Yangnim-dong and resident artists dedicated to their work in the area.
The 27th and 28th will mark the final stage of the Craft Street Festival, where visitors to Yangnim-dong can enjoy viewing exhibition works and participate in hands-on activities.
At the Penguin Art Museum, works by resident artists of the Craft Street and famous artists living in Yangnim-dong will be exhibited.
Along with this, various handmade craft markets will be held throughout the Craft Street area.
Eleven resident workshop artists and 40 external sellers, including local residents, will open handmade craft markets in every nook and cranny of the alleyways, awaiting visitors.
At the 11 resident workshops in the Craft Street, a wide range of craft experience events will be held.
Visitors can experience making small items using various craft materials such as fabric, leather, metal, and ceramics, with free experiences available daily for up to 55 people.
Additionally, in the lawn Hanok area, there will be tea ceremony demonstrations with visitors, and a hands-on pottery wheel experience with resident workshop artists.
Furthermore, various side events will take place, including free rentals of modern costumes, caricature and junk art free experience SNS events, outdoor free movie screenings, and busking performances.
