Vehicle fires mainly occur due to mechanical and electrical factors such as defects or overheating of the engine body and other components, or electrical circuit short circuits. Due to the presence of fuel, the combustion speed is very fast, making early suppression crucial.
Under current law, passenger cars, vans, and trucks with a seating capacity of 7 or more must be equipped with vehicle fire extinguishers. From December 2024, a law mandating fire extinguishers in all vehicles with 5 or more seats will be enforced.
