On the 9th, Yongin City announced that it is conducting a preliminary survey of privately proposed industrial complex projects to strengthen the city's future competitiveness by understanding the dynamic domestic and international industrial trends, such as the government's recent designation of the Ildong and Namsa Advanced System Semiconductor Cluster as a national industrial complex candidate site.
Previously, the government announced plans to establish a 7.1 million square meter (approximately 2.15 million pyeong) advanced system semiconductor national industrial complex in Ildong and Namsa-eup, Cheoin-gu. Samsung Electronics will invest 300 trillion won to build five semiconductor foundries by 2042 at this site.
The government's vision is to create the world's largest semiconductor mega cluster by linking large-scale semiconductor production bases in southern Gyeonggi areas such as Pyeongtaek and Hwaseong with the fabless valley in Pangyo, Seongnam City, centered around Yongin.
The city is conducting a demand survey aiming to develop an industrial complex equipped with advanced strategic industries such as semiconductors, bio, and future mobility utilizing core technologies of the 4th Industrial Revolution, as well as contributing to the local community and energy self-sufficiency capabilities.
Applicants wishing to develop the industrial complex must qualify as industrial complex development project implementers under Article 16 of the "Act on the Development and Supply of Industrial Sites." They can submit a letter of intent for investment in the privately proposed industrial complex project by visiting the city's Industrial Complex Location Division by the 30th of next month.
