Hyundai Motor Company, 8 Consecutive Years Participating in the 'N?rburgring 24 Hours Endurance Race'
Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 3rd that it will participate in the '2023 N?rburgring 24 Hours Endurance Race (hereinafter N?rburgring Race)' held over two days from the 20th to the 21st (local time) at the N?rburgring in Germany.
The N?rburgring Race is a competition where the total cumulative distance is measured by driving on the circuit for 24 hours to determine the ranking. The N?rburgring circuit, where the race will take place, is famous for its harsh course, which is considered a success just by finishing, featuring a length of over 25 km, an elevation difference of up to 300 m, and as many as 170 corners. It is also called 'The Green Hell.'
Because of this, the performance of the vehicle plays an important role in the race results, and the completion rate is only about 60-70% on average. Last year, out of a total of 135 entries, only 93 completed the race.
Hyundai Motor Company set a great record by having all vehicles finish successfully for seven consecutive years since 2016. The Elantra N TCR (domestic name Avante N TCR) won the TCR class for two consecutive years (2021-2022).
This year, participating in the race for the 8th time, Hyundai Motor Company plans to prove the excellent durability and driving performance of the N brand in front of motorsports fans worldwide by entering the Elantra N TCR in the TCR class and the i30 Fastback N Cup Car in the VT2 class.
In this race, existing drivers such as Mikel Azcona, who participated last year, will join, along with new entries: the Brian Herta Autosport team from the United States in the TCR class, and Korean drivers in the VT2 class. Park Junsung, who was finally selected through the 'Hyundai Junior Driver Program' in March, will make his debut as a racing driver in the race.
