Pernod Ricard Unveils 'Royal Salute Forces of Nature'
The Meeting of Prestige Whiskey and Fine Art
Unveiled Next Month at 'Art Busan 2023'
Pernod Ricard Korea announced on the 27th that its prestige whiskey, Royal Salute, will release ‘Royal Salute Forces of Nature by Kate MacGuire,’ the brand’s top-tier lineup created in collaboration with British artist Kate MacGuire. This product is an ultra-limited edition, with only 21 pieces available worldwide and just one piece offered domestically.
This edition is the first work of the art project ‘Art of Wonder,’ newly launched by Royal Salute to pay tribute and homage to the fields of art and design, realms of creativity and innovation. This project was planned to convey the unique values of Royal Salute’s high-end lineup?respect for time, rarity, modern blending, and artistic creativity?in a new way through collaboration with one of the most acclaimed contemporary artists. Through this project, Royal Salute plans to continuously present the Pinnacle Collection completed with a more contemporary sensibility, offering a powerful synergy and wonder created by the harmony of skilled craftsmanship and artistry.
The first artist of the ‘Art of Wonder’ project, Kate MacGuire, is a leading British artist inspired by the forces of nature, known for her classical charm sculptures primarily using bird feathers. Her works are praised for their unique harmony of dual and complex emotions, combining fascination and beauty with the fear evoked by grotesque forms.
Through this collaboration, MacGuire projected her artistic vision onto Royal Salute’s blending expertise and presented three works named ‘Paragon,’ ‘Plethora,’ and ‘Protean’ under the title ‘Forces of Nature.’ Among these, Paragon, included in this edition, is a piece completed with specially selected pheasant feathers, characterized by a shimmering golden hue reminiscent of a well-aged Royal Salute blend.
This edition also includes the finest 53-year-old whiskey. The 53-year-old whiskey commemorates the year Royal Salute was born, 1953. Master Blender Sandy Hislop personally selected raw materials aged for at least 53 years across Scotland to create a delicate and sophisticated blend. This edition offers a complex and refined flavor with rich fruit aromas, berries, the sweetness of candied walnuts, and toasted oak notes that leave a long finish, making it the finest masterpiece showcasing Royal Salute’s pinnacle collection blending skills and flavors.
The packaging also matches the prestige of the finest blend. The crystal decanter containing the 53-year-old whiskey is a handmade product crafted by a master artisan from Dartington, a renowned British crystal house, who shaped the glass by hand and mouth-blowing. For the first time in the brand’s history, a transparent crystal decanter is used, allowing direct appreciation of the shimmering blend’s color. Additionally, delicate feather patterns inspired by MacGuire’s artwork are engraved and decorated with 24-carat gold, offering high artistic value on its own. The edition also includes an art book introducing the collaborative works, housed in a handcrafted premium wooden case to enhance its collectible value.
