Suwon City Conducts Food Poisoning Prevention Inspections at School and Kindergarten Cafeterias
The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province is launching inspections of school and kindergarten cafeterias as well as food ingredient suppliers to prevent food poisoning in collective dining facilities.
The inspection targets include kindergartens, elementary, middle, high schools, universities, food ingredient suppliers, and temporary meal providers such as lunchbox vendors in the Suwon area.
Suwon City will inspect 60% of all cafeterias by the 22nd of this month, the spring semester, through an inspection team composed of 10 members divided into 5 groups. Additionally, from August 28 to September 15, the fall semester, a full inspection will be conducted including establishments not inspected during the spring semester.
The main inspection items are ▲ compliance with expiration dates ▲ implementation of health checkups for cooks and operators ▲ operation of groundwater disinfection devices (automatic chlorine injectors) ▲ guidance and promotion for food poisoning prevention ▲ washing and disinfecting of utensils (removal of residual detergent), among others.

The city will collect and test frequently provided ready-made products, non-heated foods, fresh convenience foods, and food-use water (groundwater) deemed to pose a risk during inspections for food poisoning bacteria and other contaminants.
