"Make the Most of Your Experience and Skills"... 'Seoul Women Up Project' Fully Launched
New Initiative for Employment Triple Set Targeting Women Aged 30-40 with Work Experience
The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 7th that it will actively promote the ‘Seoul Women Up Project,’ a pledge for women with career experience. This project supports the reemployment and social reintegration of ‘women in their 30s and 40s’ whose economic activities were interrupted due to pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare during their prime working years.
The ‘Seoul Women Up Project’ is an evolved version of the ‘Women Up Internship,’ which was piloted in September 2021, and consists of a ‘three-piece set’: ▲ Women Up Job-Seeking Support Fund (300,000 KRW × 3 months) ▲ Women Up Internship (living wage × 3 months) ▲ Women Up Employment Incentive (1,000,000 KRW × 3 months).
The city reported that through about a year of pilot operation of the ‘Women Up Internship,’ 49 people succeeded in reemployment, showing some results. However, due to low completion and employment rates caused by mid-term dropouts, job mismatches, and the need to connect jobs that allow work-life balance, the city decided to reorganize the project to provide comprehensive support from job seeking to employment and employment stability.

Kim Seon-soon, Director of the Women and Family Policy Office of Seoul, said, “We have newly prepared the ‘Seoul Women Up Project’ so that women with career experience who had to leave their jobs due to childbirth and childcare can regain their confidence lowered by a long gap and demonstrate their careers and abilities.” She added, “Even amid a social atmosphere that avoids pregnancy and childbirth, we will continue to consider additional support measures for mothers in their 30s and 40s who are struggling to balance work and family.”
