Naver Cloud-SK Broadband, Public DaaS CSAP Acquisition
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Naver Cloud announced on the 23rd that its DaaS (Desktop as a Service) product, ‘Cloud Desktop,’ jointly developed with SK Broadband, has obtained the Cloud Security Assurance Program (CSAP) certification from the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA).
This is the second DaaS CSAP certification in South Korea. ‘Cloud Desktop’ is now qualified to provide DaaS services to national and public institutions.
CSAP is an evaluation and certification system implemented by the government to supply private cloud services with verified stability to public institutions. Private companies aiming to provide cloud services to the government or public institutions must obtain CSAP certification. For DaaS certification, all 110 control items across 14 areas, including organizational and operational systems, access control, and incident response and prevention processes, must be fully complied with.
‘Cloud Desktop’ is a DaaS product that combines Naver Cloud’s strengths in the highest-level public cloud infrastructure environment and operational capabilities in Korea with SK Broadband’s independently developed open-source-based cloud PC solution, ‘Cloud X.’ The PC user authentication system does not rely on Microsoft AD, an authentication service developed by Microsoft for Windows environments. Instead, it offers an authentication system based on open-source specialized design, allowing application tailored to various customer situations.
Naver Cloud and SK Broadband have expanded the range of options by offering both standard products with full security and optional products that allow the selection of security solutions according to the IT environment of the adopting institution.

Hansang Young, Executive Director of Strategy & Planning at Naver Cloud, said, “There is a growing demand for DaaS that enables safe access to work networks without time and space constraints, as national and public institutions that have used two PCs per person?one for work and one for internet?are recently transitioning to one PC per person for security reasons. We will support more public institutions in achieving work innovation based on the public-exclusive Naver Cloud platform, which has proven stability while meeting strict compliance.”
