Semiconductor Workforce Training Center to Open in Gyeonggi-do by the End of March
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will open the 'Gyeonggi-do Semiconductor Workforce Development Center' (tentative name) at the end of next month to cultivate advanced semiconductor talent. The province will also hold a naming contest for the center.
This contest aims to select a name for the 'Gyeonggi-do Semiconductor Workforce Development Center' that is easy for residents to understand and use, thereby raising awareness of semiconductor professional workforce development within the province.
To stabilize the supply of workforce in the semiconductor industry, which is facing a severe labor shortage, the province will establish the 'Gyeonggi-do Semiconductor Workforce Development Center' within the Suwon Next-Generation Convergence Technology Institute.
The center will operate programs focused on practical technical workforce training tailored to the demands of small and medium-sized enterprises in semiconductor materials, parts, and equipment, as well as programs to strengthen the capabilities of semiconductor educators.
Detailed programs include ▲ operation of education programs linking vocational high schools, universities, and companies ▲ capacity-building training courses for vocational high school teachers ▲ establishment of semiconductor practical training facilities.
The province will award cash prizes to the winners after expert evaluation of the submissions: one grand prize winner (2 million KRW), two excellence award winners (500,000 KRW each), and five encouragement award winners (200,000 KRW each).
The grand prize-winning name will be used as the official name of the center opening at the end of next month. It will also be used in promotional materials for the center and semiconductor workforce development projects.
