Dr. Helicopter No. 3 Patient Safely Transported to Emergency Room from Chujado in 17 Minutes

[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Chang-won] Jeju Special Self-Governing Province swiftly transported a fall patient from Chuja Island to a hospital in Jeju City using an emergency medical helicopter (Doctor Helicopter) on the 6th.

According to Jeju Province on the 7th, patient A (89 years old), a resident of Chuja-myeon and the third patient of the Doctor Helicopter, visited the Chuja Health Center the previous morning due to a fall. The patient was transported by the Doctor Helicopter to a hospital in Jeju City, diagnosed with a femoral fracture, and is currently receiving inpatient treatment.

At 9:12 a.m. that day, a dispatch request for the Doctor Helicopter was received through the 119 emergency call center.

The Doctor Helicopter took off from Jeju Halla Hospital at 9:23 a.m., landed on Chuja Island at 9:37 a.m., and took off again at 9:43 a.m., monitoring the patient’s blood pressure and other vital signs, arriving at Halla Hospital at 10:00 a.m.

Patient A was diagnosed with a femoral fracture through examinations including computed tomography (CT) and was admitted to a general ward.

The Doctor Helicopter, first deployed in Jeju on December 1 last year, safely transported a hiker complaining of chest pain at Witseoreum on Hallasan Mountain on January 8 this year, and on the 11th of last month, transported a patient with a knee injury sustained while climbing Baengnokdam on Hallasan Mountain to the emergency room.

Kang Dong-won, Director of the Jeju Province Citizen Safety and Health Office, said, “The Doctor Helicopter plays a significant role in swiftly and safely transporting emergency patients not only on Hallasan Mountain but also on Chuja Island,” adding, “We will do our best to secure the golden time for emergency patients and improve access to emergency medical care anywhere in the province.”
