Ssangyong Motor Sold 11,000 Units Domestically and Internationally Last Month... Torres Records Highest Sales
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] SsangYong Motor announced on the 1st that it sold a total of 11,003 vehicles domestically and internationally last month. Domestic sales were 7,130 units, and exports were 3,873 units, marking monthly sales of over 11,000 units for the first time in four years since January 2019. This is about a 45% increase compared to January of last year.
The mid-size sport utility vehicle (SUV) Torres led domestic sales with 5,444 units sold. It surpassed the monthly maximum sales record of 5,237 units set by Tivoli in 2015. This is the highest monthly sales record for a single model since the company was established. Domestic sales exceeding 7,000 units occurred for the first time in three months since last October.
Exports saw strong sales of Korando and the new Rexton Sports & Khan in Eastern Europe including Hungary, as well as Australia and Chile. Since Torres was launched overseas last year and the electric SUV Korando e-Motion was introduced in Europe last month, the company expects exports to increase further.
