First, Councilor Oh was recognized for his efforts to establish an institutional foundation that allows young people preparing for independence to enter society as healthy members of the community through the "Ordinance on Support for Youth Preparing for Independence."
The ordinance includes practical and specific support measures such as providing housing, living, education, and job opportunities, as well as creating a support base and forming an independence support council involving the participants themselves.
Councilor Jeon showed achievements in expanding leisure activity participation opportunities for elderly people with mobility difficulties through the "Ordinance on Shared Use of Automobiles Equipped with Wheelchair Boarding Facilities for Elderly with Mobility Difficulties."
Based on this ordinance, the 2020 "Centenarian Youth! Happy Companionship! Gwangju Seo-gu Hyo Car" project is underway, and in 2021, the target users were expanded to include people with disabilities through partial amendments, guaranteeing the mobility rights of transportation-vulnerable groups.
Both councilors said, "We feel proud to have our legislative activities recognized through this excellent ordinance selection," and added, "We will continue to listen more and work harder to legislate ordinances that citizens can feel and need."
The excellent ordinance award ceremony, hosted by the Korean Local Autonomy Association, is scheduled to be held at Ajou University on the 17th of next month.
