View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwanju] Bundang Seoul National University Hospital announced on the 26th that it has opened the 'SMART Simulation Center,' which enables simulation-based education and training in an environment identical to an actual hospital.
The center, located on the basement first floor of the Healthcare Innovation Park at Bundang Seoul National University Hospital, spans 1009㎡ and is equipped with ▲simulation rooms ▲classrooms ▲patient rooms and intensive care units ▲operating rooms ▲OSCE/CPX (Objective Structured Clinical Examination/Clinical Performance Examination) rooms ▲conference rooms ▲practice rooms, along with advanced training equipment such as high-performance simulators.
The educational facilities within the center replicate the clinical environment by including medical devices and patient monitors used in clinical practice, PDAs, label printers, and an educational electronic medical record system (EMR). Medical staff can experience the entire treatment process, including diagnosis, surgery, and nursing, through various scenario-based practice sessions as if in real situations.
In particular, an anteroom and respiratory simulators have been installed to create an environment optimized for infectious disease response and respiratory disease treatment. The anteroom is a space located at the entrance of patient rooms to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, and this is the first time a Korean hospital has installed an anteroom in a simulation center. Medical staff can receive systematic training from the initial stage of donning protective gear in the anteroom to simulation of diagnosis and nursing for respiratory patients.

Additionally, facilities and curricula that allow experience of 'virtual surgery' have been introduced. In the operating room, surgical simulations such as laparoscopic surgery and angiography are conducted in an environment identical to actual conditions, allowing practice of various surgical techniques.
The center has established educational programs divided into four areas: ▲cardiopulmonary resuscitation ▲simulation instructor courses ▲clinical competency ▲surgical competency. Going forward, the center plans to expand educational content and target audiences to continue providing education not only for hospital staff but also for medical professionals in the local community.
