Toyota Korea Motors Appoints Manabu Konyama as New CEO
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Toyota Motor Korea announced on the 9th that Manabu Konyama has been appointed as the new CEO, succeeding Nobuyuki Takemura.
Manabu Konyama, the new CEO, joined Toyota Motor Corporation in 1990 and has held various leadership roles within Toyota, including in the research department, dealer network development, and sales and operational strategy for overseas markets.
Since 1990, he was in charge of economic and overseas market research in the research department. He was responsible for dealer network development in Japan and mid- to long-term sales and supply planning for overseas markets. From 2011, he was assigned to FAW Toyota, a joint venture between China First Automobile Works (FAW) and Toyota Motor Corporation, for five years. From 2013, he served as vice president. Afterwards, he was in charge of sales strategy for the Chinese market within Japan, and from 2019 until recently, he worked as the East Asia regional manager in the East Asia and Oceania division, including Korea.
New CEO Manabu Konyama said, “I am pleased to be able to work in Korea, a dynamic automotive market where consumers seek new trends,” and added, “Based on my experience, I will do my best to make Toyota and Lexus loved by each and every Korean customer.”

Meanwhile, former CEO Nobuyuki Takemura has returned to the Japanese headquarters after completing five years of service in Korea.
