On the 4th, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced the '2022 Educational Guardian System Operation Results,' revealing these achievements.
The Educational Guardian System is an integrated student welfare project that supports the wholesome growth of children and adolescents through customized guardian activities addressing deficiencies for at-risk students, and establishes an educational safety net system through cooperation among schools, families, and local communities.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education built an educational safety net by connecting 13 autonomous districts, 31 administrative neighborhoods, 33 community organizations, 176 schools, and related institutions, and supported personalized educational guardian activities for each student through 153 educational safety net council meetings and 383 solution meetings.
An elementary school principal who attended the Educational Guardian System performance sharing meeting expressed gratitude, saying, "A student who used to visit the Wee Class frequently for counseling did not visit even once this year," adding, "The reason was the student's stable school life due to the continuous educational guardian activities."
Last year, the Educational Guardian System was operated with a total budget of 686 million KRW. The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education contributed 400 million KRW, the Ministry of Education provided a special grant of 150 million KRW, and district funds amounted to 136 million KRW.
However, this year, the budget for the Seoul-type Innovative Education District of the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education was completely cut, and the Ministry of Education's special grant was not allocated, making operation difficult.
