Gwangju Independent Local Council Members Begin This Year with 5·18 Memorial Visit

The independent basic councilors, consisting of Gidae-seo and Choi Ki-young from Buk-gu, Park Jong-gyun from Dong-gu, Kim Ok-su from Seo-gu, and Park Yong-hwa from Nam-gu, pledged to the spirits and residents to carry out exemplary legislative activities and develop researched policy alternatives.
The basic councilors stated, "This year as well, within the progressive legislative activities, especially with the endemic effect, overseas training for local councilors will be held in abundance. From now on, we will promote exemplary overseas training that receives praise from residents rather than criticism."
They also adopted a proposal for rational parking enforcement, and during the Itaewon tragedy, they issued a condolence statement and conducted safety management and crisis response manual checks for each local government.
Additionally, they recently adopted a proposal to withdraw the appointment of Kim Gwang-dong, chairman of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, who led the distortion of modern history such as the Gwangju Democratization Movement and the Jeju 4·3 Incident, and delivered it to President Yoon Seok-yeol.
