Yoon Reflects 'Leap Forward' in New Year's Address... "Includes Crisis Overcoming and Three Major Reforms"
Inaugural Address and National Vision 'Leap'... Exploring Various Public Communication Methods with New Year's Card Keywords
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] President Yoon Seok-yeol is once again emphasizing a message of 'leap forward' as the year-end and New Year approach. This is interpreted as an intention to garner public consensus on overcoming the economic recession and the three major reforms set as tasks for next year, and to accelerate their implementation.
President Yoon is scheduled to deliver a New Year's address via live TV broadcast at 10 a.m. on January 1st next year, according to Lee Jae-myung, deputy spokesperson of the Presidential Office, during a briefing at the Yongsan Presidential Office on the 29th. The New Year's address will take place in the Freedom Hall on the second floor of the Yongsan Presidential Office. The speech is expected to last about 10 minutes.
The core theme of the New Year's address is expected to be crisis overcoming and leap forward. In his inaugural speech last May, President Yoon said, "Rapid growth and leap forward can be achieved through science, technology, and innovation," and the government's national vision was set as "Korea leaping forward again, a nation where the people live well together."
Deputy Spokesperson Lee stated, "The New Year's address will focus policy efforts on revitalizing the private sector and market under the banners of export promotion and Startup Korea to overcome the economic crisis."
He added, "It will also emphasize unwavering promotion of the three major reforms in labor, education, and pensions for sustainable growth and development for future generations."
Recently, the key word in the New Year's cards President Yoon sent to elders and key figures in various fields, national merit recipients and their families, socially disadvantaged groups, foreign heads of state and major foreign figures, and overseas Koreans is also 'leap forward.'
In the New Year's cards, President Yoon stated, "We are overcoming difficult and challenging times and creating a better future," and "Together with the great people, we will achieve a new leap forward." He also promised, "We will strive even more to let warm kindness permeate the lives of the people."
Since policies for market revitalization and the three major reforms require absolute public consent, the administration plans to steadily increase communication with the public.
President Yoon recently invited citizen panels to hold a national agenda review meeting and is incorporating public opinions by involving private sector and experts in next year's ministry work reports.
He also plans to actively participate in press conferences and media interviews. A key official from the Presidential Office said, "We will continue to review various forms of communication with the public, including press conferences, and discuss which methods are best for conveying the government's thoughts to the people and listening to their opinions."
