XGOLF "Japan Golf Booking Service Opens"
Rakuten Collaboration, Yen Depreciation Boosts Japan Travel Popularity
Affordable Green Fees, Immediate Reservations Available at Japanese Golf Courses
[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] XGOLF, the largest golf booking platform in Korea, is offering golf booking services in Japan.
On the 28th, XGOLF stated, "With the unusual yen depreciation and the increasing number of domestic golfers seeking golf trips to Japan, we have planned this service together with Rakuten, Japan's largest internet service company that holds a variety of Japanese golf course products." The service was suspended for over two years due to the spread of COVID-19 but has been renewed and reopened for the first time domestically as we enter the endemic phase.
Currently, users can access over 50 golf courses. Golf courses can be booked in real-time by selecting the desired region, date, and time. Unlike general tour packages, accommodations and other non-golf course products are not bundled, allowing for flexible travel in Japan.
Since COVID-19, green fees at domestic golf courses have increased by more than 30%, requiring golfers to pay over three times the fees compared to Japanese golf courses. With the easing of overseas travel restrictions, domestic golfers are turning their attention to overseas golf courses. Japan is easily accessible due to its proximity to Korea. Golf courses in the warm Kyushu region are especially popular.
XGOLF is holding an event until February 28 of next year. All members receive a 5,000 KRW discount coupon when booking a Japanese golf course. Members who complete their rounds after booking will be entered into a draw to win a headcover worth approximately 50,000 KRW.
