New COVID-19 Cases at 87,596, Rising Again... 592 Severe Cases (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Byeon Seon-jin] The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced on the 27th at midnight that 87,596 new COVID-19 cases were added, bringing the total to 28,772,196.
The number of new cases on this day increased by 62,050 compared to the previous day (25,545), reflecting the impact of reduced testing over the weekend. It rose by 60 cases compared to a week ago on the 20th (87,536 cases). The number of new cases had been decreasing for three consecutive days from the 24th to the 26th but turned to an increase on this day. This Tuesday's count was the highest in 16 weeks since September 6 (99,813 cases).
The number of critically ill patients currently hospitalized increased by 9 to 592 compared to the previous day. The number of critically ill patients has remained in the 500s for 10 consecutive days.
There were 50 additional new deaths from COVID-19. The cumulative death toll reached 31,882, with a fatality rate of 0.11%.
