‘A City Where All Children Are Happy and Respected’ … Busan City Wins Grand Prize in Child Protection System Evaluation
On the 22nd, Ministry of Health and Welfare Hosts Evaluation Awards Ceremony, Local Government Ranks First
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Busan City received the Grand Prize at the ‘2022 Child Protection System Establishment Evaluation Excellent Local Governments Awards Ceremony’ held at the Ministry of Health and Welfare annex on the 22nd.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare annually evaluates and awards local governments' efforts to establish a child protection system in accordance with Article 4 (Policy Establishment) and Article 15 (Protective Measures) of the ‘Child Welfare Act’ to raise awareness of strengthening the public nature of child protection.
The evaluation was conducted in accordance with the government’s inclusive national child policy by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, based on the evaluation areas of ▲Operation of the child protection system (30 points) ▲Support for city/county/district tasks (50 points) ▲Expansion of child protection infrastructure (20 points).
In this evaluation, ▲In the city/province category, Busan received the ‘Grand Prize’ and Gyeonggi Province received the ‘Excellence Award’; ▲In the city/county/district category, Daegu Suseong-gu received the ‘Grand Prize’, Seoul Nowon-gu received the ‘Excellence Award’, and Gyeongnam Changnyeong-gun, Chungnam Boryeong-si, Jeju Jeju-si, Gyeonggi Suwon-si, and Gangwon Wonju-si received the ‘Merit Award’.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun said, “Taking this award as an opportunity, we will continue to strengthen the detailed support system for children requiring protection in our city and create a city where all children are happy and respected, ‘Busan’, the vision of child policy, and a future-rich ‘Busan where you want to live again.’”
