The Grandmaster title is awarded to engineers who have been certified at Level 4, the highest technical level among the four grades of Hyundai’s service technology certification program, the ‘Hyundai Master Certification Program (HMCP).’
HMCP is Hyundai’s proprietary technical certification system introduced in 2012. Engineers are classified into four levels based on their technical competency: Level 1-2 (Technician), Level 3 (Master), and Level 4 (Grandmaster).
Among those who passed the first theoretical exam, 74 candidates took the second practical exam at Hyundai’s Seoul and Cheonan Global Learning Centers. As a result, 26 individuals were ultimately awarded the Grandmaster qualification.
The second practical exam comprehensively evaluated expertise in advanced new technologies and diagnostic repairs across seven categories: ▲Electric Vehicles (EV) ▲Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV) ▲Engines ▲Vehicle Networks ▲AVN (Audio, Video, Navigation) Systems ▲Chassis Systems ▲Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Notably, starting from this year’s evaluation, candidates must hold not only HMCP Level 3 (Master) but also the ‘Hyundai Electric Vehicle Master Certification Program (HMCPe)’ L3e (e-Master) grade to be eligible for the Grandmaster certification evaluation.
HMCPe is a newly introduced system by Hyundai in March to actively foster specialized electric vehicle maintenance personnel. It is divided into L2e (e-Technician) and L3e (e-Master) levels based on technical competency.
The Bluehands top engineers selected as Grandmasters this time will receive certificates, certification medals, plaques, nameplates, and uniform patches that prove their status as top technical experts. Among these, the certification medals and plaques will be specially displayed in Bluehands customer lounges, which is expected to enhance customer trust in service quality.
Meanwhile, Hyundai has been conducting new car, group, and e-learning training annually to ensure that Grandmasters selected through fair and objective evaluations maintain their top technical skills continuously.
From the 21st to the 24th of last month, 93 Bluehands Grandmasters participated in the ‘Grandmaster Tech Academy’ held in two sessions at the Cheonan Global Learning Center. They attended courses on the latest diagnostic technologies, technology trends and future outlooks, and customer service education, and shared excellent maintenance cases from the field. Additionally, Hyundai supports direct-operated High-Tech Center Grandmasters to collaborate technically with the research institute on an ongoing basis and improve their ability to derive high-difficulty maintenance solutions through workshops.
