On the 2nd, the provincial Office of Education announced that the Yangsan City Council decided to establish the education center on an 8,500㎡ site at 1501 Geumsan-ri, Dong-myeon, Yangsan City.
The provincial Office of Education and Yangsan City plan to sign a business agreement within the year to establish the education center.
In 2023, administrative procedures such as central investment review, urban management plan changes, and public property management plan changes will be carried out, and in 2024, a design competition will be held.
Construction is expected to begin as early as 2025, be completed in 2026, and the center will open in 2027.
According to the provincial Office of Education, the education center establishment project began in 2019 when it was selected for a Ministry of Education public contest and received a special grant of 7 billion KRW.
The provincial Office of Education will invest about 24 billion KRW, including the special grant, to build a total area of 4,500㎡ with four above-ground floors.
The education center will be equipped with various experiential facilities to help kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high school students develop the ability to respond to various types of disasters and safety accidents.
An official from the provincial Office of Education said, “This will solve the problem of the lack of safety experience facilities in the eastern Gyeongnam region, including Changwon, Gimhae, Miryang, and Yangsan.”
