According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters, as of midnight on the 1st, 57,079 new COVID-19 cases were added, bringing the total to 27,155,813.
The number of new cases on this day decreased by 10,336 compared to the previous day (67,415) and by 2,003 compared to a week ago on the 24th of last month (59,082). Since the 28th, the daily new cases have been lower than those of a week ago.
The number of critically ill patients hospitalized was 430, a decrease of 42 from the previous day. As of 5 p.m. the previous day, the ICU bed occupancy rate was 33.0%, and the general bed occupancy rate at infectious disease-dedicated hospitals was 23.0%.
