Hong Jun-pyo: "Strikes Holding Livelihoods Hostage Must Not Be Tolerated"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Hong Joon-pyo, Mayor of Daegu and Standing Advisor of the People Power Party, expressed a strong stance against the subway strike, stating that "strikes that hold people's livelihoods hostage must not be tolerated."
On the 1st, Mayor Hong shared the news of the labor-management agreement on the Daegu subway strike through his social media service (SNS) and made this statement.
He said, "All issues should be resolved through communication and dialogue based on principles, and we must create a reasonable world where coercion does not work."

Mayor Hong's remarks align with the current government's firm stance against union strikes. On the previous day, he also raised his voice on SNS regarding the Cargo Solidarity strike, saying, "The government should prepare a groundbreaking alternative on this occasion," and added, "If there are unreasonable points, improve them, and devise strong measures so that industrial sites are never held hostage by them again."
