Incheon City Election Commission Files Charges Against Two Local Election Accounting Officers for 'Violation of Political Funds Act'
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The Incheon City Election Commission announced on the 25th that it has reported two accounting managers of the support committees for candidates for Incheon City Council and Michuhol-gu Council in connection with violations of the Political Funds Act during the June 1 local elections to the prosecution.
Mr. A is suspected of receiving or spending about 16 million won in political funds without using the account reported to the Election Commission while working as the accounting manager of the support committee for an Incheon City Council candidate during the June 1 local elections.
Also, Mr. B, the accounting manager for a Michuhol-gu Council candidate, is suspected of spending about 14 million won in political funds in the same manner.
According to Article 36, Paragraph 2 of the Political Funds Act, when an accounting manager receives or spends political funds, they must use the deposit account reported to the competent election commission.
The city election commission also conducted an accounting audit targeting all candidates and support committees in the June 1 local elections, detecting 81 violations such as false reporting or private use of political funds, and issued warnings.

An official from the Incheon City Election Commission stated, "To establish a proper political fund culture, we will thoroughly verify election expenses and political funds and take strong measures against violations."
