'Strengthening Labor Safety Nets for Young Workers'... Gyeonggi-do Introduces 'Experiential Industrial Safety Training'
13 Specialized and Meister High Schools with 937 Students
Inviting Expert Instructors, Storytelling-Integrated 'Customized Theory' Lectures
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gyeonggi Province is launching a pilot project called 'Preliminary Worker Industrial Safety Education for First-Time Social Entrants' targeting students of vocational high schools within the province starting this year.
According to the province on the 25th, the first pilot project will provide education to 937 students from 13 specialized and Meister vocational high schools across the province, beginning this month at Yeoju Jeil High School and continuing until December 29 at Uijeongbu Technical High School.
Labor rights and industrial accident prevention experts will visit schools directly to conduct customized education by incorporating storytelling focused on safety measures in manufacturing and construction sites, as well as case studies from fields such as construction, machinery, electrical and electronics, and services.
In addition to face-to-face theoretical lectures, students will have the opportunity to experience various industrial accident scenarios such as forklift operation, falls, and confined spaces through virtual reality (VR) equipment, allowing them to identify workplace hazards, improvements, and response measures.
The province plans to comprehensively review and supplement the outcomes of the pilot project and expand the program starting next year.
To ensure field-centered industrial safety education, the province is considering linking expert lectures with practical training sites and also exploring consulting measures for hazardous and risky factors at workplaces employing first-time social entrants.
