Pukyong National University Digital Smart Busan Academy Graduates First SW Specialists
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Digital Smart Busan Academy Project Group at Pukyong National University held the 1st graduation ceremony and awards ceremony for the ‘Digital Smart Busan Academy’ on the 23rd at the multipurpose hall on the 3rd floor of Engineering Building 1.
The project group was selected for the Ministry of Science and ICT’s 2022 SW Talent Development Project and has been operating the Digital Smart Busan Academy since July to cultivate SW professionals tailored to the on-site demands of local companies, producing 91 SW professionals for the first time.
The academy was led by Pukyong National University, with participation from 12 institutions including Busan area universities such as Dong-A University and Dong-Eui University, as well as local companies.
The ‘Digital Smart Busan Academy’ operated an educational curriculum targeting students and graduates from three universities, offering 320 hours of theory and practice based on advanced AI deep learning in fields such as smart healthcare, smart ships and ports, smart manufacturing, and big data, along with 320 hours of project work.
The event included the graduation ceremony, project presentations by course participants, and an awards ceremony for outstanding students.
Hwang Ki-ju, a student from Dong-Eui University who received the Busan Mayor’s Award, said, “It was an opportunity to grow by collaborating on projects with students from other universities in the smart healthcare field, which I have always been interested in.”
