Korea Rail Network Authority to Open Suin Line Underground Park Next Month

The Korea Rail Network Authority announced on the 24th that it will complete the final stage of the plaza redevelopment construction of the 'Suin Line Underground Upper (Suwon City Section) Resident Convenience Facility Installation Project' by early next month and fully open the park section in mid-month.
The project was promoted according to the consignment agreement signed in 2019 between the Korea Rail Network Authority and Suwon City, to create a resident convenience space in the upper underground space (3.5 km) of the railway in Pyeong-dong and Omokcheon-dong, Gwonseon-gu, Suwon City.
The total project cost was 16.4 billion KRW, fully borne by Suwon City. The Rail Network Authority planted 72,053 trees including Ipap trees in this space to create urban walking trails, resting areas, and parks.

Kim Han-young, Director of the Rail Network Authority, said, “We will complete the remaining processes of the project well to provide residents with a nature-friendly sanctuary that enhances convenience and historical value.”
