The Korean Church Law Association to Hold Academic Seminar on the 24th at Sarang Church in Seoul
Topic: 'Bioethics and Christianity Focusing on Abortion and Dignified Death'
[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] The Korean Church Law Society announced on the 18th that it will hold an academic seminar at 2 p.m. on the 24th in the international conference room on the 4th floor of Sarang Church in Seoul. The theme is "Bioethics and Christianity, focusing on abortion and dignified death."
The society stated, "Through interdisciplinary discussions between theology and law, we have prepared in-depth presentations and discussions by experts to examine the issues of abortion and dignified death and seek alternatives."
Following the worship service in the first part, the second part will proceed with presentations and discussions. Pastor Song Samyong (professor at Kwangshin University and Calvin University) will present on "Abortion and euthanasia from the perspective of Christian faith and statutory law," and attorney Jeon Yunseong (representative of the Institute for Legal Policy for Freedom and Equality) will present on "Comparative legal implications of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that overturned abortion legalization precedents."
Next, attorney Yeon Chwihyun (representative of Law Office Y) will present a "Critical study on the abortion crime bill proposed to the National Assembly," and Professor Jeong Jonghyu (emeritus professor at Chonnam National University Law School) will present on "The issue of euthanasia from the perspective of Catholic faith."
