[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Gyeongsangnam-do will provide an online service called ‘Finding Ancestral Land’ starting from the 21st, allowing people to check land still registered under their ancestors' names.
Gyeongnam Province is implementing the Finding Ancestral Land service to assist residents in exercising their property rights.
The service identifies land that was not properly inherited due to negligence in management or sudden death from unforeseen accidents and notifies the heirs.
Previously, the Finding Ancestral Land service required heirs to visit the city, county, or district civil service office in person to apply, but with the launch of the online service, non-face-to-face applications are now possible via the internet.
The online Finding Ancestral Land service targets the parents, spouses, and children of individuals who died on or after January 1, 2008.
Applications can be made through the government portal “Government24” or the National Spatial Information Portal. Upon submitting documents such as the basic certificate and family relation certificate, the responsible officer verifies and reviews the inheritance relationship and notifies the results online within three days.
According to Gyeongnam Province, this service was first initiated by Gyeongnam in 1993 and expanded nationwide in 2001.
As of October 31 this year, 25,849 people in the province have applied, and 12,615 people have found 67,387 parcels of land, totaling 243,703,525 square meters.
