[Asia Economy Reporter Seomideum] Kyobo Bookstore's web literature platform 'Changjak-ui Nalssi' is holding the 1st Search-Light Contest until the 2nd of next month.
With the slogan "Illuminate and Shine Your Work," the Search-Light Contest, held for the first time this year, is a serialized novel contest hosted and organized by Kyobo Bookstore and sponsored by the investment and distribution company Merry Christmas Co., Ltd. It aims to discover works with high potential for expansion into secondary content such as webtoons and videos (dramas, movies, etc.).
The first contest genres are mystery, thriller, horror, suspense, and SF (science fiction). Any author who has serialized a complex genre novel including at least one of these genres with 20 or more episodes on 'Changjak-ui Nalssi,' regardless of whether they are established or new writers, is eligible to apply.
The application period is until the 2nd of next month, and a total of twelve works will be selected as winners. Prizes include a total of 100 million KRW, one-on-one mentoring with experts, priority consideration for book publication and video adaptation.
Kim Jeong-gyeom, head of the DBS Platform Business Team at Kyobo Bookstore, in charge of the contest, stated, "As readers' demand for new genres and content that break away from existing web novel clich?s such as regression, possession, and reincarnation is growing, we plan to continuously provide high-quality content by developing genres like mystery and thriller in serialized form through this contest."

Launched in May, 'Changjak-ui Nalssi' is Kyobo Bookstore's web literature platform for discovering and nurturing new writers. It supports serialization of various text contents such as novels, essays, and poetry. Currently, authors like Cheon Seon-ran, Jeon Geon-woo, and Lim Tae-woon are exclusively serializing original works, and various creative support programs for discovering and nurturing new writers are being planned.
