View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Samsung Electronics, the world's top TV company, swept 46 innovation awards, including 3 Best of Innovation Awards, ahead of the world's largest electronics exhibition, the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023, held in Las Vegas, USA, in January next year, setting a record for the most awards ever. In particular, the 2023 TV new products received the Best of Innovation Award for the 12th consecutive year, proving its status as the undisputed 'TV champion.'
On the 17th, Samsung Electronics announced that it achieved this result by revealing the CES innovation award-winning products and technologies in 28 categories from the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) in the United States. According to the CTA on the previous day (local time), Samsung Electronics swept a total of 46 innovation awards, including 18 in video displays, 11 in mobile, 10 in home appliances, and 7 in semiconductors. This matches the record set at CES 2020.
The Best of Innovation Awards were won with 2 in video displays and 1 in semiconductors. Samsung Electronics stated that the 2023 TV new products demonstrated leadership as the global No. 1 in the TV market by winning the Best of Innovation Award for 12 consecutive years. The gaming monitor also won the Best of Innovation Award for the second consecutive year, following last year.
In home appliances, products and technologies such as 'Bespoke' appliances and 'SmartThings'-based services received awards. It won 10 innovation awards, the most ever in the home appliances category. The 'Bespoke Artificial Intelligence (AI) Washer and Dryer' received an innovation award for its 'AI Customized Washing and Drying' function, which uses AI technology to suggest optimized courses according to the laundry. 'SmartThings Energy,' equipped with energy usage management and 'AI Saving Mode' functions for appliances, was also selected.
In the mobile category, various products and technologies such as the recently released and highly acclaimed 'Galaxy Z Fold4,' 'Galaxy Z Flip4,' 'Galaxy Watch5 Pro,' and 'Samsung Wallet' won innovation awards. In the semiconductor category, the industry's first biometric authentication card solution 'Fingerprint Authentication IC (S3B512C),' which integrates a hardware security chip, fingerprint sensor, and security processor into a single IC chip called 'One Chip,' won the Best of Innovation Award.
Additionally, newly released high-performance large-capacity storage devices such as the SSD '990 PRO with Heatsink,' the automotive high-capacity 1TB (terabyte) BGA NVMe SSD, and the industry's smallest 0.56μm pixel size 200-megapixel image sensor 'ISOCELL HP3' received innovation awards.
