On the 14th, the Gwanak Police Station in Seoul announced that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Seoul Southern Youth Dream Center, an educational institution under the Ministry of Justice, on the 31st of last month.
Through this agreement, when the police assess the likelihood of reoffending among at-risk youth and request cooperation, the Seoul Southern Youth Dream Center will provide education tailored to the circumstances of the youth involved in school violence, theft, sex crimes, and other offenses, including mock trial experiences, sexual culture education, and etiquette training. Additionally, professional mentors will offer intensive counseling to the youth, enabling more substantial guidance for at-risk youth, according to the police.
The Gwanak Police Station stated that this MOU was signed in response to the increase in various juvenile crimes, including school violence, following the easing of COVID-19 restrictions and the return to normal school attendance.
