Speedmate Launches 'Emergency Electric Vehicle Charging Service' Starting from Jeju Area
Ready to Dispatch 10 Electric Vehicle Units in Jeju Area for Depleted Battery Cases
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] SK Networks' comprehensive car management brand, 'Speedmate,' is launching an emergency charging service for electric vehicles.
Speedmate announced on the 14th that it will start the emergency charging service for electric vehicles to supplement the insufficient charging infrastructure compared to the spread of electric vehicles and to support the safety of driving customers. The service will begin in the Jeju area and plans to expand nationwide.
To this end, Speedmate has equipped 10 emergency dispatch vehicles currently operating in the Jeju area with electric vehicle charging equipment. The equipment can charge regardless of the electric vehicle manufacturer or model, and a 20-minute charge allows driving about 10 km, so customers can move by finding a nearby electric vehicle charging station. Customers of AXA General Insurance, Heungkuk Fire & Marine Insurance, Lotte Insurance, Carrot General Insurance, and Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance can contact their insurance company in case of battery depletion to use the emergency charging service.
Speedmate signed a business agreement in June with electric vehicle battery and charging-related companies 'Mintech' and 'Eva' and has been cooperating to launch the emergency charging service for electric vehicles. Mintech developed mobile batteries for electric vehicles, and Eva provided technical advice based on mobile charger technology. Currently, no domestic insurance companies operate emergency charging services for electric vehicles, and only some electric vehicle manufacturers provide emergency charging services, so the number of insurance companies partnering with Speedmate is expected to increase.
Additionally, customers using Speedmate's emergency charging service for electric vehicles can receive on-site assistance for auxiliary battery depletion, tire punctures, and towing services if necessary, which is expected to further enhance customer satisfaction.
