Hyundai Mobis Officially Launches Production Specialized Integrated Subsidiary 'Motras-Unitus'
Leap to a Global-Level 'Production Specialist Company' Based on Reader Competency
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Two specialized integrated production subsidiaries responsible for manufacturing modules and parts of Hyundai Mobis have officially launched. The integrated subsidiary for module manufacturing is named ‘MOTRAS’, and the integrated subsidiary for parts manufacturing is called ‘UNITUS’. These integrated subsidiaries plan to establish independent business capabilities based on specialized production technology and quality competitiveness, aiming to grow into global-level specialized production companies.
Hyundai Mobis announced that the production-specialized integrated subsidiaries MOTRAS and UNITUS officially launched on the 14th. Hyundai Mobis had announced plans to establish the integrated subsidiaries in mid-August. Since then, they held briefings on the vision and development plans of the integrated subsidiaries and completed the corporate establishment procedures.
The name MOTRAS, the integrated subsidiary responsible for module production, is a compound of Module and Transform, meaning continuous change based on independent technological capabilities.
The name UNITUS, the integrated subsidiary for parts production, is a compound of Unit (parts technology) and the French word Tous (integration), embodying the corporate value of unity based on innovative technological capabilities.
The newly established integrated subsidiaries will be 100% owned by Hyundai Mobis. Hyundai Mobis and the integrated subsidiaries expect synergy effects through maximizing each company’s expertise and efficiency. In the mid to long term, the integrated subsidiaries plan to secure independent business areas, such as performing consignment production for global customers.
Currently, the two integrated subsidiaries have a total of about 7,500 employees, and they plan to strengthen the development of specialized personnel through their own recruitment in the future.
As the newly launched integrated subsidiaries hold the status of Hyundai Motor Group affiliates, the treatment and welfare of new employees will be significantly improved. Support for purchasing Hyundai and Kia vehicles and tuition assistance for employees’ children are representative examples.
