Jung Jin-seok: "State Audit? Nothing but Saving Lee Jae-myung by Taking Parliamentary Principles Hostage"

On the morning of the 10th, Chung Jin-seok, Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, stated at the National Assembly's emergency meeting, "The national investigation is nothing more than a rescue operation for Lee Jae-myung, using parliamentary principles as a hostage." The previous day, Joo Ho-young, floor leader of the People Power Party, also said, "We do not plan to respond to the demand for a national investigation."
Regarding the Democratic Party's submission of the national investigation request as an agenda item for today's plenary session, the People Power Party strongly criticized it using terms like 'intimidation' and 'dictatorship.' Chairman Chung emphasized, "The Democratic Party talks about forced processing, but our party will boldly confront the Democratic Party's parliamentary dictatorship as we have done so far," adding, "We will use all means available to us to block parliamentary dictatorship while exposing its unfairness and irrational absurdity to the public and denouncing injustice." He continued, "The Democratic Party submitted the national investigation request yesterday and says it will submit the agenda at today's plenary session," adding, "They are intimidating us by saying they will vote on the formation of a special committee for the national investigation alone at the plenary session on the 24th."
He also made it clear that the investigation is led by the police. Chairman Chung said, "The forced investigation is currently proceeding swiftly, and the investigation body is the police, to whom the prosecution's investigative authority was completely transferred by the Democratic Party," adding, "It is obvious that the national investigation will end with shouting and calling various people to the National Assembly. If shortcomings are found in the police investigation, then we can discuss a national investigation or special prosecutor."
At the same time, he attacked Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party. Chairman Chung said, "I don't know why the Democratic Party is overreacting these days. Is protecting that person from Daejang-dong the reason for the Democratic Party's existence?" He pointed out, "This is a country where even the president can be sent to prison if they do wrong. It is impossible to pretend that the crimes committed by Leader Lee never happened."
He also claimed that the Democratic Party's national investigation demand and Leader Lee's remarks about a special prosecutor and candlelight protests are aimed at President Yoon Suk-yeol and the presidential office. Chairman Chung said, "If one of your closest aides was arrested for receiving election funds from the Daejang-dong black money, shouldn't you properly apologize to the people? Can someone who commands the main opposition party to 'conduct a national investigation, appoint a special prosecutor, and hold candlelight protests' be taken seriously?" He criticized, "The shielded lawmakers are innocent. Why are they using a drowning victim strategy?"
